LCL (less than container load referred to as LCL), refers to the carrier (or his agent) after  accepting small quantity less than full container freight from consignor,they sort the goods according to the nature and objective ,they assemble a center number of goods in to a box which goes to same destination .  Due to goods in box belongs to different owners , so called LCL . This solution is used when consignor ship less than full container ,LCL cargo classification, sorting, concentration, packing (unpacking), delivery, etc are done at terminal port station of carrier or inland container transfer station.

LCL can be divided into straight LCL or transit LCL, straight LCL refers to loading and unloading at the same port, not unpacking before goods arrive destination port, means goods need be unpacked at the same port of discharge. Delivery period of this kind of LCL service is short, fast and convenient, generally the LCL company with powerful strength just provide such services. Transit LCL  refers to not all goods of container  reach the same destination ,instead goods  need be unpacked on way or transshipped. As the destination of these goods is not same ,it takes long time ,so the price is high according to long period and other factors .
